Missions Team

Ministry Description:

Meet at least monthly, PRAY, Make decisions about missionary financial support and communicate with financial leaders and elders, Invite missionaries or potential missionaries to meetings, Recruit short-term teams including training, Communicate with the church family, Encourage prayer/connections/and care for our missionaries, Plan events to connect missionaries with the church family, Evaluate missionaries if ministry changes or other concerns arise, Ensure that missionaries and agencies match our doctrinal statement of faith, Review and update the Mission Policy periodically, Set goals to maintain focus.

Volunteer Positions/Number of Volunteers Needed:

Minimum of four, maximum of ten members

Expectations:

Attend scheduled meetings, Rotate writing prayer requests for weekend email blast, Focus on selected missionaries for prayer and care, Facilitate communication with the church family/ mission agencies when needed, Pray about decisions to be made at each meeting, Participate in event planning and serving, Invest in appropriate learning opportunities about missionary care and team functioning, Help church family/smaller groups to connect and “adopt” 1-2 missionaries, Select additional prayer/involvement options-such as IDOP for the Persecuted Church, Orphan Sunday for Global Fingerprints

Time Commitment:

Meetings: prep time concerning the agenda and 1.5 hour actual meeting Extra meetings outside of normal monthly schedule – 1 hour occasionally Hosting a visiting missionary – one day or more, depending on situation Writing – about 1 hour per month Prayer – no set limit Communication – continual short conversations Extra Learning – Attend seminars or conferences, Read a book/article, Listen to a blog
